Act of Donation
Louisiana law allows owners of property, including motor vehicles, to freely donate their property as an alternative to selling. An act of donation, attested to by a notary is however required. Donating a motor vehicle is often done to transfer ownership to family members or as a gift to a worthwhile charity.
Note however that a donation made with the intent of avoiding taxes that may apply may not be allowed.
